No one knows where we’re heading to…

October 31, 2009

phoenix_united

You seem so glad my place is free
Now you’re dancing on my grave
What a cruel way to treat a friend

Live my life in dignity
Well I must confess
Looking for a place

Everybody has to demonstrate
And everybody has to see you wait
Thinking of
a real way to see

What matters is the love that you give
Remember all the thing that you’ve seen
Does another
go and never seen

Nothing in my forgotten years
Life got a little serious
Give me real self-esteem

It’s buried in my P-A-S-T
Give a lot, a whole lot recieved
Heaven-sent T.N.T

Uh, can’t go further, losing…

I cant go losing my mind
Remember all the game have I tried
Buried in
my P-A-S-T

Phoenix played at Brixton Academy a few nights ago. It was an experience. Playground Love along with Funky Squaredance were two of the multitude of highlights.

Spotify

February 27, 2009

The media have gone Twitter mad lately. I’m not sure why the sudden explosion of interest now. As soon as I got a swank new phone I signed up to Twitter and regularly abuse the alphabet within the 140 character limit.

So what’s next?…

Easy. Spotify.

What is it?

Spotify offers you legal and free access to a huge library of music. All you need to do is create an account and download our streaming music player.

Yeah…free music…I was suspicious too. Apart from the occasional ad, which aren’t intrusive, it is what it says it is. Free streaming music and what’s more is the program is processing light so it’s not going to make your computer crawl. Not available to everyone, a lot of mainland Europe by invitation and if you are lucky enough to live in the UK not even that. Try it out, it’s suspiciously good.

Want to hear my playlist? Just bash this into Spotify’s search bar.

The Presets – If I Know You

February 25, 2009

The Presets, Julian Hamilton (production, keyboards, vocals) and Kimberley Moyes (production, drums, programming) have just released the video to what may turn out to be their newest single, ‘If I Know You‘.

Great song, interesting video. Lyrics after the break…

No Snow Please

February 2, 2009

Yesterday night I found myself in the surreal position of listening to Matt & Kim on my bicycle in the snow while being hit by a car. I’m still a little bit spaced out.

My bike. Not the most suitable.

My bike. Not the most suitable.

I’m not sure it was anyone’s fault. I was waiting for a car to pass to join a road, ironically I was being cautious, the car tried to turn but due to the ice it had only lined itself up with where I was situated and carried on going. Not quite sure how I’m in one piece but it’s best not to question good luck. I’m still a bit spaced out.

I’ve got a pretty apt song for the occasion.

Anoraak – Nightdrive With You (Pomomofo Remix)

Maybe I should have put up Cut Copy‘s Out There On The Ice. Any other suggestions?

Music Sounds Better With You

January 29, 2009

Just picked up another remix to one of those rare songs that is always welcome on a playlist. Music Sounds Better With You by Stardust.

Stardust

The Dirty remix grows. Can’t really beat the original though.

Sébastien Tellier at the Empire

January 25, 2009

The night finally came and it amazingly went. We arrived early, serendipitously all bumping into each other in an instant on the tube, and were treated to some excellent support acts. It would be nice to know who the support acts were but since the only place they were listed was in biro on one of the posters near the front door, that isn’t going to be easy. As you can see from the photo below I was in a prime position

Fairmont – Gazebo (Joe and Will Ask? Remix)

January 23, 2009

The days are slowly getting longer. Soon we’ll probably have another non-summer.

Short days.

Short days.

This creeper remix of Fairmont‘s Gazebo has been a regular this week on the playlist. Definitely a grower.

I did buy Saints Row 2 in the end. I want to say I’m sorry but I enjoyed it way too much. If anything I regret getting sucked into the hype of GTAIV. You can read my review where I draw more than slightly bias comparisons over at Remedial Waste.

Pirate or Ninja? Both please!!

Matt & Kim

January 21, 2009

Matt & Kim‘s new album Grand came out. Seems President Babscoronation wasn’t the only thing going on. Good luck to the man!

Kim Deals sister?!

Kim Deal's sister?!

If you’re not familiar with Mat & Kim, as I was until a couple of hours ago, they’re a two man person band from Brooklyn, New York. They formed in 2004 and released their self-titled debut album in 2006. Thanks wiki.

Where are the Pixies when you need them?

Where are the Pixies when you need them?

Does anyone else think this Kim looks a bit like Kim Deal? Love the Pixies. Do we want more or are they better left as they are?

Battlestar Galactica Week

January 19, 2009

I hate Battlestar Galactica. I hate it because I know one day soon it will end. Every episode I watch brings leaves me with one less. However, not to be too despondent I have for no especially good reason, except maybe that the final run has started, chosen this week to be ‘Battlestar Galactica‘ week.

In order to be part of this momentous occasion you may want to do the following…

  • Replace all expletives with “Frack“.
  • Reassure everyone that whatever is going on is apart of “God’s Plan“. Not sure how do do this? Ask Sarah Palin.
  • Only respond to your Viper call sign. Make sure it sounds imposing…like ‘Husker‘…no wait…’Hotdog‘…Well at least make sure it is original, like ‘Kat‘…Okay, pick whatever you want. Good luck explaining this one to everyone.
  • Imagine Tricia Helfer is your own personal Jesus.
Make me a believer...

Make me a believer...

  • Suspect everyone of being a cylon.
  • Especially yourself.
  • Any confusion that occurs is due to DRAIDUS interference.

People’s reactions are priceless. This should cause at least a few frightened looks.

Back from space and to the music

Sébastien Tellier – Kilometer (Aeroplane ‘Italo 84′ Remix)

January 13, 2009

As if by fate I was listening to Monsieur Tellier‘s album Sexuality this morning for the first time in a while when what should appear on Ohh! Crapp… than one of most mind blowingly, chest thumpingly good remixes I’ve heard in quite some time.

Jesus

I’m a big fan of the original Kilometer and the album as a whole is a marvel. Give it a listen…
